Established in 1987, the Hughson Group is a locally owned construction company based in Kingston Ontario. As a trusted and proven specialist on Municipal, Provincial, Federal and private projects, the Hughson Group provides services throughout Eastern Ontario.

With more than 30 years’ experience in construction, the Hughson Group has expanded its services from fencing and guiderail to foundation drilling, barrier and noise walls, overhead sign installation and site development. The Hughson group also provides a complete line of equipment rental services such as vacuum and sweeper trucks, hydraulic drills and portable executive washrooms.

The Hughson Group is a unique and dynamic company that prides itself on serving our clients in a safe, timely and efficient manner and is always searching for new opportunities. In addition to providing construction services, the Hughson Group is a proud supporter on many local charities and sports teams.

Our History

1980’s

The Hughson family started out as a small roadside tree clearing and well drilling company. During this time Hughson proudly provided road side clearing services for Bell Canada on the 401 from the Quebec border to Belleville for the national fiber optic cable installation, a distance of over 275 kms!

1987

In 1987, the Hughson family transitioned into Hughson Fencing and Guiderail and added fencing and guiderail installation to its list of services.

1987-2008

Hughson Fencing and Guiderail completed many smaller scale projects for both municipal and provincial governments as well as subcontracting work for many eastern Ontario general contractors. During this time, Hughson continued to gain experience in roadside safety installations and in 1997 added its first post pounder to its fleet of equipment. The addition of the post pounder greatly increased production as opposed to digging every hole and changed the way guiderails were installed.

2008

While continuing to provide guiderail and fence installation services, Hughson Barriers was formed in 2008 to provide installation services for all roadside safety barriers and crash systems.

2008-Present

Over the past decade, the Hughson Group has transitioned into a full service road side safety service contractor and provides not only fence and guiderail services as they did in the 1980’s and early 1990’s, but a full range of other roadside safety services such as barrier and noise walls, overhead signs and footings, deep foundations, roadway protection systems and sweeper and vacuum truck rentals. Hughson proudly provides services to federal, provincial and municipal governments as well as many General Contractors throughout Eastern Ontario.
